@doucelait1 the only difference between sister locks and “dread” locs are the size. Sister locks are micro sized locs and dreads are usually pencil size or larger. locing my hair is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I think you’ll love it :-)
Nyesha aka Healthy Locs
I am totally unfamiliar about locs. What’s the difference between sister locs and dread locs. I’ve been natural for about 4 years and am on the fence about whether or not I should get locs.
@basman2344 I’d be happy to help with your locs send me an email to healthylocs@yahoo.com with your contact info and we’ll see what we can do.
Peace, Nyesha (Healthy Locs)
im at 1 inch right now ..and im going to need you to start my locs…there is nobody like you down here inFlorida!!!
Pushpa was around 4 or 5 yrs old if I remember correctly when her mom started her locs. I think between 3 & 5 is a good age to start kids out with locs. I will work on some style videos and post them as soon as they are done :-) Thanks so much for the compliments and the love sis.
Peace
Healthy Locs
I love your vids and your hair and you are soooo beautiful.! You are the most comprehensive loctician on youtube as of right now… But my question was…. How old was pushpa when she started her locks.. because I want for my daughters and sons to one day have locks but how young is too young and I dont want them pushing back…. Also could you do some lock style vids too1 i know you can probably do beautiful styles!!!
I would suggest switching to regular locs as well as seeing your dermatologist. Breakage can result from poor diet, stress or skin issues. so you should definitely see your doctor to help you figure out what symptoms you can begin to eliminate.
I don’t know about steaming your locs, but you should definitely try our Herbal Shampoo & Conditioner set. The combination should help with your breakage issues.
I have sisterlocks and my locks have started thinning and breaking off on the left side for the last couple of months and my locktician suggested going to a dermatologist but I really think my hair is very dry and I need to find good moisturizing products…what can i do to help the side of my head that is breaking and should i switch from sisterlocks to traditional locks?
Hi NyrajuS…some cool vids you got goin on! I wondered if you can suggest any good products to steam my locs at home and also help breakage? I might have missed that vid but if you have any advice on products I would really appreciate the help…
One love..DL
Very nice!
Shalom & Blessings!
Yes I only use my fingers. I don’t use the tool at all.
So just to double check, you don’t use the tool at all and just your fingers for the interlocking?
They are 2 different methods, but I’ve found that a combination of the 2 methods gives the best results. I’m glad that you are having success with you & your daughters hair thus far, but I would really recommend discontinuing the use of the latch hook tool. Over time it weakens your hair because of the pulling. I know other locticians who’ve stopped using the tool to do interlocking because they noticed a difference also.
You can retwist your locs as early as every 2 weeks if you’d like. You just shouldn’t do it everyday. That would be overkill. You shouldn’t retwist your hair when it’s dry. it’s always better to retwist your hair when it’s wet so the twist will set as it dries.
some lockticians recommend that you wait 4-6 weeks to retwist your locs, can you wash them yourself & get them retwisted when trey’re dry?
Both are fine, but the interlocking tends to make the maintenance last longer which is why I use both methods when I do locs. Make sure you do it by hand though. Don’t use that latchhooking tool. It’s not good for your hair
is it better to interlock or twist when retouching your locs? I have started my daughter locs with 1/4 braids, and she’s reached the point where they need to be done, but I’m not sure which method is best at this point. What do you think?
You provide the plane ticket, room & board, I’ll be there ! LOL
OMG!! Your hair is sooo long….I really want to loc my hair now…can u come to Louisiana…? lool
Thanks so much. I’m glad you found or video informative. We look forward to hearing from you with your product order. Peace !
great video. I have had questions about latchhooking and thanks for the advice on it. I also love natural products, so I’ll be checking out your products. GoldenGoodas referred you via video.
Thanks!
Great question! They are 2 different methods for root tightening. Some people chose to use either or, but I have found that a mix of both methods works the best for me and my clients. I usually interlock to a certain point and then palm roll the rest down. If the interlocking has been working for you and your girls then by all means continue to go with that. Peace !
I thought palm rolling and interlocking were two different methods to tighten the roots. Why would you need to palm roll if you’re interlocking it? I latch hook my own hair and both of my daughters and it’s been successful thus far. Just had that quik question for you! Thanks for the video clip…I’m gonna try and download the book.
